The goalkeeper is one of the most important players on the field - they are the last line of defense and the first line of attack.  The goalkeeper can win or lose games for the team.  To play the position well requires special skills and training.  Many coaches don’t know how to coach a goalkeeper properly.  As a matter of fact, coaches just don’t have the time to train their goalkeepers.

Goalkeeping is not just about blocking shots!!  Goalkeeping is about controlling a defense and controlling what happens within the penalty box.

What will be taught:

Mechanics of catching the ball

Footwork—if the GK can’t get to where the ball is going, their hands will be useless!!

Proper Positioning and Angles on shots, corner kicks, free kicks, etc.

GK Psychology/Attitude—Ability to handle pressure and forget about mistakes

How will this be accomplished?

Speed, Agility and Quickness specifically for the GK

Explosive Jumping and Diving Training

Hand/Eye Coordination Drills to allow for better recognition of plays developing

Strength Training and Injury Prevention

And much more!!

If you have had a GK coach before, these GK sessions will be like nothing you have seen before.  These sessions will be WORKWork to learn and understand the position.  Work to become fitter, stronger and quicker, but more importantly, Work to be the best at the position!

As you can see playing GK really isn’t hard to understand, but the work and dedication that an athlete has to pay to this position is incredible.  This GK training is not for the athlete who is just playing GK because he/she doesn’t like to run; it is for the athlete who wants to be the best GK they can possibly be and wants to work their butt off to achieve that level of greatness.  GK is not for everyone and requires a special attitude that can handle the pressure of being blamed for goals, but can also handle the accolades of saving the game for the team.

If you are ready to put in the work necessary to be great, please call Jeff Lochner @ 469-789-4116 or email at jeff.lochner@paradigmsp.com.
